Robin Carstensen

Co-founder and Senior Editor

Robin is Switchgrass Review Co-founder and Senior Editor. Her chapbook, In the Temple of Shining Mercy, is the recipient of an annual first-place award by Iron Horse Literary Press, and was published in 2017. Poems also appear in BorderSenses, Southern Humanities Review, Voices de La Luna, Demeter Press’s anthology, Borderlands and Crossroads: Writing the Motherland, and many more. She directs the creative writing program at Texas A&M University-CC where she also advises the The Windward Review: literary journal of the South Texas Coastal Bend.


Manuel Whitaker Garza

Co-founder and Art Editor

Manuel is Switchgrass Review Co-founder and Art Editor, website and journal designer. He owns Day Charan Creative: Tantralini.org. Manuel is also a licensed Zumba instructor, Certified NIA Instructor, Registered Yoga Teacher specializing in Kundalini Yoga & Meditation as taught by Yogi Bhajan, and creator of Enlightened Body Yoga (eBo). Manuel currently teaches yoga and Pilates classes at YMCA of the Coastal Bend, and Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation. Manuel lives in Corpus Christi, Texas, with his husband, three dogs, three cats, and one thirsty plumeria.


Odilia Galván Rodríguez

Associate Editor

Odilia is Switchgrass Review Associate Editor, and a poet, writer, editor, activist, and publisher. She is the author of seven volumes of poetry. Her latest book, from FlowerSong Books is The Color of Light ~ Poems to the Mexica and Orisha Energies, 2019. She is the co-editor, along with the late Francisco X. Alarcón, of the award-winning anthology Poetry of Resistance: Voices for Social Justice, The University of Arizona Press, 2016. She has worked as the editor for several print magazines, most recently at Tricontinental Magazine in Havana, Cuba, and journals online, Cloud Women’s Quarterly Journal and Anacua Literary Arts Journal.


Sarah K. Lenz

Prose Editor

Sarah is Switchgrass Review Prose Editor. Her work appears in Colorado Review, The Fourth River, Entropy, South Dakota Review, Santa Ana Review, Front Porch, and elsewhere. Three of her essays have been named Notable in Best American Essays, and she received the New Letters Readers’ award in nonfiction. She holds an MFA in creative nonfiction from Georgia College, an MA in literature from Boise State University, and a BFA in fiction writing from the University of Nebraska, Omaha. She's the founder of the Writers’ Studio - Corpus Christi (writersstudio.org), which offers free creative writing classes. She teaches composition and literature at Del Mar College.


Michael Quintana

Assistant Editor

Michael Quintana is a practicing writer that holds an MFA in Fiction and Screenwriting from San Jose State University. He’s been a script coordinator for Cinequest’s screenwriting contest and currently works with writers and entrepreneurs through his company Script Journey for manuscript, website, and brand development. Michael currently serves as the Director of Communications for All Saints’ Episcopal Church and works with Sarah K.
